内容 The effect of the magnetic skew on the Parker instability is investigated bymeans of the linear stability analysis for a gravitationally stratied gas layer permeatedby a horizontal magnetic eld. When the magnetic eld is skewed (i.e., theeld line direction is a function of the height), the wavelength of the most unstablemode is 10H where H is the pressure scale height. The growth rate of theshort wavelength modes is greatly reduced when the gradient in the magnetic elddirection exceeds 0.5 radian per scale height. Our results indicate that the Parkerinstability in a skewed magnetic eld preferentially forms large scale structures likegiant molecular clouds.
