内容 The paper will roughly outline a possible theoretical framework for a hypermedia-based learning environment for the instruction of English as a Second/Foreign Language. The theoretical framework will be a combination of three current theories in Instruction Design: Cognitive Flexibility Theory (CFT) attributed to Spiro (1990); Epistemic-Games Theory, Morrison & Collins (1996); and Yacci's (1994) Grounded Model of Cognitive Learning Patterns. The discussion will begin with a short section on the hypertext and/or hypermedia. The second section is devoted to theory, with the final section on how theory could be applied to the design of a hypermedia-based learning environment to be delivered over the World Wide Web.
