Two channel Analyses of the Aerosol Optical Properties Using NOAA/AVHRR

内容 研究概要:We estimated the global distribution of the aerosol optical thickness and Ångstrom exponent using NOAA/AVHRR channel-1 and -2 radiance data for four months in 1990. The global distributions of those aerosol parameters look consistent with our knowledge on the distribution of desert-derived, biomass-burning, and anthropogenic pollutant aerosols. Especially, we found that thin anthropogenic aerosols can be identified easily with large Ångstrom exponent values. Retrieved values of the aerosol optical thickness and Ångstrom exponent were validated with AERONET (AEresol Robotic NETwork) data, which are ground-based measurement data with sunphotometer by NASA.
