Climate Change and ENSO in Southern Thailand

内容 研究概要:The historical (1951 to 1996) yearly mean of air temperature and annual total of rainfall data from 21 meteorological stations in the Southern Part of Thailand were analyzed by time series plot of the anomaly from the baseline period (1961 to 1990) or from the whole period of records, and by variability of yearly mean and three-years running mean, in order to see the trends of these two climate elements. The stations are divided into two groups, the East coast and West coast of Southern Thailand, owing to the different physiography. The linkage of them with the ENSO events are also investigated. All stations except Phuket (West coast) show rising rainfall at present. Most stations show decreasing trend of air temperature except Ranong (West coast), Chumphon, Prachuap Khiri Khan and Surat Thani (East coast). During the ENSO years most stations show minus rainfall anomaly and at Upper South stations show plus rainfall anomaly, but Lower South stations show minus rainfall anomaly; and minus air temperature anomaly.
