Diurnal Measurements of the Planetary Boundary Layer over Hong Kong Derived from Lidar Observations

内容 研究概要:The diurnal variation of the planetary boundary layer (PBL) over Hong Kong was studied by means of lidar and radiosonde. Aerosol monitoring was performed for a period of 24 hours using a ground-base lidar developed at City University of Hong Kong for atmospheric study based on a Nd: YAG laser operated at 532 nm. The lidar signal is a combination of the backscattering signal, atmospheric background radiation and thermal system noise, etc.. In this paper, the analysis of a typical pattern of the diurnal variation of the ML depth in Hong Kong during the winter season will be presented. Comparisons between this result and the radiosonde data will also be discussed.
