内容 The flowfield structure of a circular cylinder at Knudsen numbers from O.5 to 10 is studied numerically by using the Direct Simulation Monte Carlo(DSMC) method from a view point of the effects of outer boundary condition. To clarify the effects of outer boundary condition we have carried out simulations of rarefied gas flows past a circular cylinder with uniform-outflow, free-outflow and periodic-shell boundary conditions. The periodic-shell boundary condition is devised to diminish the influences of the limitedness of simulation regions by making molecules inside regions interact with imaginary molecules outside which are replicas of actual molecules existing near outer broundary surfaces. The results of simulations show that the periodic-shell outer broundary condition significantly diminishes the distortions of the flowfield structure compared with uni form-flow and free-outflow conditions. Such improvments enable us to use smaller simulation regions and lead to decrease computational time and costs.
