内容 1. The author experimented on the formation of leaf nodules on A. crispa and A. punctata in genus Ardisa in Myrsinaceae. 2. There existed a remarcable difference in the free N fixation activity of leaf nodule bacteria between A. crispa and A. punctata, that is, the former seems can not fix the free N in the air, and if it can, it is slight, on the other hand the latter can do vigorously at the degree of need the supplyment of N from its roots determinately. 3. The leaf nodules are formed on the shoots and adventitious buds which were sprouted in spite of the following treatment. radiation of ultraviolet ray, cutting, decapitation, and embryo culture etc., and only by the heat treatment, some of them are reduced to the bacteria free plants, thence conclusively it is adequate to say that not only facultative but also" hereditary symbiosis", 4. when we treat the seeds and infant plants with heat, knobs are formed on the growing point and the other parts. Moreover the bacteria free plants are produced in a small number (about 2%). 5. The life circle of the leaf nodule bacteria is not the Hmitted one, that was pointed out by Miehe and Faber but the other way is considerable, namely, the bacteria alive in the plant tissues and in the air or soil and then to the growing point of stem and so on. 6. The production of the bacteria free plants are not constant by temperature, time, and period of operation. There are great differences between individual sensibility, and always the % was higher in A. crispa than in A. punctata. 7. The non-leaf nodule plants need long period to germinate (3-5 months), their growth is bad, size is small, and looks yellowish green, so they reveal very abnormality, but these results are not reduced by the absence of bacteria, but was greatly affected by a phisiolosical obstruction by high temperature.
