内容 The fine structure of the olfactory mucosa and respiratory epithelium in the Reeve's turtle were observed with scanning and transmission electron microscope. The surface of the olfactory mucosa was covered with long olfactory cilia densely. Whereas, at the respiratory mucosa, tufted short cilia were observed. Olfactory receptor cells of olfactory mucosa bore several cilia from its dendrite terminal swelling and ciliated epithelial cells of respiratory mucosa also have both short cilia and microvilli between cilia. In both mucosa, cells which contained many secretory granules were observed (supporting cells in olfactory mucosa and goblet cells in respiratory mucosa) . Functional differences between cilia of olfactory receptor cells, those of ciliated epithelial cells and microvilli of vomeronasal receptor were discussed.
