内容 The twofold purpose of this study was to review the studies about cognitive behavir therapy techniques, mainly self-monitoring and cognitive restructring, and to examine the clinical effectiveness of these techniques theoretically. Recently many behavior therapists have advanced a theory to account for the human behavior modification as the cognitive modification. New behavioral techniques such as modeling, covert self-control, self-instruction, self-monitoring, cognitive restructuring, self-contract, self-directed stimulus control, and so on are developed as the new learning theories that lay stress on the clients' cognitive processes, and accepted by many learning theorists and behavior therapists. Clients' private events such as beliefs, thoughts, problem-solving attitudes and coping skills have been emphasized in these new therapeutic approaches. The findings of experimental and clinical researches on cognitive behavior therapy were summerized and their clinical effectiveness were discussed.
