内容 The author intended to clarify the effects of light and tryptophane on the formation of IAA, using rape seedling and obtained the following results : 1. The rape seedlings grew normal in light but etiolated in dark in spite of whether they were grown in dist. water or tryptophane solution. 2. In 50 grains of rape seed existed a considerable amount of IAA (-log T 0.110). 3. At first the rape seedling grew in consuming the preexisted IAA and temporary resulted the decrease of its value even in light. 4. In dark no increase of IAA was observed throughout the whole experiments, whichever they were cultured in didt. water or tryptophane solution. 5. The most increse of IAA was observed on the lightened and tryptophane given section but even in the latter without light no increase of it was proved. It may surely be said that to the formation of IAA light is an essential element, and at the same time tryptophane is a precursor of IAA, limitting to the presence of light.
