内容 The purpose of this study is to design to make clear the differences of bahavior of both teachers and pupils resulted from the degree of skillfulness of the teachers. One teacher who had experiences for 4 years of teaching and one university student who had finished the teaching training for 2 weeks were chosen as the skillful teacher and the unskilled teacher respectively. Each of them gave instruction in arlithmetic at one of two homogeneous classes of the 4th grade under the same teaching materials and the same teaching program. The results are followings : 1. It was observed that behaviors which did not relate to the instruction increased from about 30 minutes after the beginning of the instruction in both classes, and that there were more ups and downs respect to activity of pupils in the teaching process of the skillful teacher than in those of the unskilled teacher. 2. It seems that utterances in the teaching process of the unskilled teacher were more directive, and utterances in the skillful teacher were more reinforcive and motivative. There seems to be the strong tendency that dialogus between the skillfull teacher and a pupil were reduced to a matter of concern of all pupils and some new problems were induced from them. 3. We define the measure of degree of participation to the instruction of pupil as the pupil's behaviors directed to the goal of the instruction. It is observed that degrees of the paticipation of pupils in the class of the unskilled teacher were divided clearly in either very high or very low. Besides therewere high correlation between the degree of participation and the activity level of the personality trait, and between that and the achievement score. While degree of the participation of pupils in the class of the skillful teacher were nealy same for all pupils and mean of those was significantly higher than mean of those in the unskilled teacher.
