内容 In this paper the author will discuss some problems concerning the bark treatment or painting to fruit trees with methyldemeton (Metasystox) in order to establish a rational painting method. The important matters in this problem are summarized as follows. 1. Painting had better be done on middle branches rather than trunks, by reason of economization of the insecticide. 2. The dose of the insecticide ought to be determined by the volume of branch to be treated. As the standard dose the author recommends 0.6〜0.7 cc Metasystox (i) per 1, 000cm^3. 3. In many cases there is high correlation between the round length of branches and their volume. Therefore the suitable dose to be given can be inferred from the round length of branch. (Fig. 4) 4. The thickness of insecticide painted on barks is an important matter in view of phytotoxicity. The upper limit of safe thickness has been observed as 0.6cc/100cm^2 in the experiments of orange trees. Light painting is convenient, for in this way resultant thickness of Metasystox (i) on bark treated is usually about 0.5〜0.6cc/100cm^2. 5. The author suggests a practical method of bark treatment, namely, light painting to branch in the area of 3〜4 times length of branch diameter based on various considerations mentioned above.
