内容 石ナシ発生樹の生理生態的観察および石ナシ果実の調査を行なった.1.ルートボックスによって根の生長周期を比較したところ石ナシ発生程度との間に明確な関係はみられなかったが, 石ナシ発生樹は秋根の伸びが悪く, 秋以前に異常をきたしているようであった.2.掘り取り調査によって根の形態を調べたが石ナシ多発樹の根は, 細根の量が少なく, 根は屈曲が多いなど不健全な様相を示した.3.根のTTC還元力は, 春期に高く, 夏期に低下し, 秋には再び高くなった.石ナシ発生樹の根はおおむね低い還元力を示した.4.葉の飽和水分不足度は石ナシ発生樹の方が高かった.その値は根のTTC還元力の値と密接な関連性が見られ, 根のTTC還元力の高い樹ほど, 飽和水分不足度が小さかった.5.石ナシ果実は, 健全果にくらべて, 生育初期から縦径横径および果径指数が大きい傾向がみられ, 生育後期の生育の鈍化がやや急激に現われた.6.果径指数は, 石ナシ程度のやや強い果実が大きかったが, 石ナシ程度別には一定の傾向がみられなかった.7.果肉硬度は, 石ナシ程度のいちじるしい果実ほど高く, 部位別には蒂部の硬度が赤道部のそれより高く, 石ナシ程度による差が明瞭であった.8.果実の糖度は, 石ナシ健全果の間に大きな差が認められなかった.

Chiba Univ., No.21: 1-7, 1973. A physiological disorder of fruits, commonly called 'Ishinashi' or 'stone pears', in Japanese pears (cv. Chojuro) has been a serious problem in commercial production of this important cultivar. The symptoms of Ishinashi fruits, similar to 'hard end' in European pears, appear in late July and August as hard fruits, irregular fruit shape and uneven surface of fruits. In the present study, differences in fruit flesh firmness and root growth, TTC reduction activity of rootlets and water saturation deficit (WSD) of leaves, etc. were compared between Ishinashi and healthy fruits and trees with or without Ishinashi fruits. Incidence of Ishinashi fruits was evaluated by unevennsss of fruit surface. The results obtained were as follows: the trees bearing Ishinashi fruits had less and shorter rootlets and abnormal roots. Roots of the trees with Ishinashi fruits generally showed lower TTC reduction activity than that of healthy trees. WSD value of leaves was found to be high when examined leaves of trees with Ishinashi fruits. Height, diameter and width-height ratio of Ishinashi fruits were larger than normal fruits, but growth rate of Ishinashi fruits in later period was less, especially in fruit diameter when compared to that in healthy fruits. Fruit flesh of Ishinashi fruits with varied firmness was firmer than healthy fruit flesh and the firmest portion of a fruit occurred in the apical portion. No significnt difference in the soluble solid content was observed between Ishinashi and normal fruits. From comparisons of WSD of leaves and TTC reduction activity betweeen Ishinashi and healthy trees, it might be assumed that this disorder may be due to poor root growth or poor absorption activity of water and nutrients by rootlets of plants.
