落花生の冠水害・浸水害の特徴について   :   Characteristics of Whole Plant Submerging Damage and Root Submerging Damage on Peanut

内容 Peanut is widely cultivated, and the cultivating places are upland fields that were converted from lowland fields in Chiba and Ibaraki prefecture, Japan, in the recent years. Therefore sometimes it sufflrs from floods. To evaluate the flooding damage on peanut, we designed two experiments: one is whole plant submerging treatment and the other is root submerging treatment. Plants in both treatments were submerged in the water tanks for one to five days. The whole plant submerging treatments lead to wilting and sometimes death of plants. The dry weight and weight of well-developed seeds were also decreased significantly in the four or five days treatments. Higher water temperature aggravated the yield reduction. And the yield reduction was brought by the reduction of the well-developed pod numbers and the increasing percentage of one seed pods. The root submerging treatments did not affect too much on the growth after that. The amounts of dissolved oxygen (D. O.) reduced in both treatments were the same. Therefore, the amount of D. O. in soil water during the treatments, does not seem to affect the yield.
